Designed and implemented a multi-point inline moisture analysis and control system to continuously monitor and regulate the water content of raw clay material throughout the entire production process.
Three PrediktIR moisture analysers were strategically installed at critical points along the product transportation conveyors — at the exit of the raw material storage area, at the entry to the main production building prior to the grinding pans, and on the output conveyor from the grinding area feeding into the final manufacturing phase.
Each analyser is integrated with dedicated water spray jet stations, enabling closed-loop automatic control to maintain a constant target moisture value at every stage.
Outcome — Raw material maintained in optimum condition throughout the process cycle, significantly reducing unplanned stoppages, improving product consistency and maximising production efficiency.
In a busy brick and tile manufacturing environment, labour constraints meant that critical manual quality checks — verifying correct product coating and surface pattern indentation — were not being consistently carried out by production line operatives. The result was non-conforming product reaching downstream processes, leading to costly rework and material waste.
A Keyence IV2 machine vision system was designed and installed to automate the inspection process entirely. The system continuously monitors each product as it passes along the production line, instantly identifying any items that fail to meet the required coating or pattern specification.
Non-conforming products are automatically flagged and rejected before they can progress further through the manufacturing cycle, eliminating the dependency on manual inspection.
Outcome — Downstream quality failures eliminated, product rework significantly reduced, and overall manufacturing wastage considerably decreased — delivering a measurable improvement in production efficiency and product quality consistency.
